Carpet troubles - How to fix
So I bought some of this from Halfords to stick the edge of the carpet down.
Extra strength hook and loop sticky backed Velcro.
I cut a length to cover the curve.
Placed it under the edge of the carpet and used a marker pen to mark the edge of the curve.
And trimmed it to suit
Cut a length of the opposite Velcro and stuck them together
And trimmed that to match
Next I pulled the edge of the carpet out and cleaned the metal with thinners to degrease it.
And did the same to the carpet
I then removed the backing from one side of the Velcro
and carefully stuck it to the metal so that it followed the curve.
Stick the opposite piece of the Velcro to the inside of the carpet.
And push the carpet back into place.
It should now stay where you put it.
Do the same to the passenger side and there should be no more swearing

Posted 13 years 3 months ago #27217I did try this a while ago, but it didn't last long. The velcro stuck to its opposite well but the adhesive came off the metal bodywork.
I forgot to clean the surfaces before applying the velcro, so it was probably my own fault. :yesnod:

I did a similar thing in Meg using the underlay from Fleur as I broke her up.. double thickness raised the carpets up enough to keep the carpets in place. The knock on was it also stopped some road noise!

Posted 12 years 9 months ago #40448Just thought id share this with you as to save money
My carpet was ripped at the foot well so I removed the carpet and sewed it back together
Making sure that the pile was covering the threads
Then I covered the back of the carpet with evostick and covered in duck tape and then added some more evostick, shaped the carpet to the correct shape during the glue going off,
Now I have a carpet with no rips and looks good as new
mad about cars and bikes
if it aint broke dont fix it
