We've got the crappy black mesh with no flaps version.

Ideally after a chrome one with flaps, but not seen any around.

If anyone has a spare with flaps one lying around they no longer want I could swap you some beer tokens?

There's a seller on Ebay UK that offers chrome plated engine covers from time to time, they don't have the flaps, but I wouldn't think they'd be hard to come by over there.

Is that what you did when your MG caught fire Oliver?
:coat:

Anyway, after extensive research it turns out the non flappy version is actually the 'Sports Pack Upgrade' version which adds a minimum of 20BHP to your car.

I'll leave it on for now, but do you think I should inform the insurance of this?

That's not got any flaps either!
No worries guys - I have it on good authority that the non flap version is a special sports upgrade so I'm keeping mine now - it adds 20bhp :broon:

The flaps just snap on, you should be able to find the flaps easy enough.
And when you think about it you would have to remove the plastic flaps before you chrome plated the grill as they wouldn't last too long in the chrome plating process! :nonod:
