Hard Top

I am looking for a hard top for ECK. I would prefer it if it was colour matched. ECK is a dark metallic British Racing green. I would, however, also be happy with a black hard top, at a push. After the last four months of rain and misery, I don't want to go through it again. I cannot garage ECK so it has to sit in the wet for as long as the wet chooses to last. :(

If anyone has one they want to get rid of, or knows of one going, I am in the market.

Thanks.

What's your budget?

Should be a good time of year to get a bargain.

I hadn't even considered a budget, Clive. They seem to go for anywhere from £200 to £400. As a student nurse, closer to the lower number would be good, but after sitting through the last wet winter worrying about the canvas top taking all the punishment that it did, I am more interested in getting a hold of one, as long as the price isn't ridiculous. If it is at the cheap end, I may get it resprayed to match the car. :)

Thanks for that, Clive. I have registered with .org now, so I hope the guy still has it when I can post there. West Lancs is fine - not that far away.

Well, I'm disappointed in the anti hard-top brigade. Previously you would have had a tirade of ' it's a convertible: my hard top has been in Granny's greenhouse nurturing broccoli for the last 12 years because I just luuuuurve open air motoring. I am pure. I am MG ' etc etc etc.

Note: my personal best for disconnecting the HRW and flipping the HT off (4 clips) on those crisp dry winter days when you need the hood down and heater on full: 42secs. Takes longer to put me socks on at my great age.

Putting it back on, aligning and clipping in place: just over a minute. Go figure.......

Hard top: a more pleasant winter experience.

Just my opinion. :yesnod:

(Awaits angry mob armed with torches and pitchforks) :coat: no threat, 'cos they'll be hypothermic after the winter. :tada:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

John - the anti crew are welcome to their opinion. After the state that my soft top got into through the wettest winter in God knows how long (mould inside, stained outside), a hard top is an essential for me. My car doesn't have the luxury of a garage, so there are no other choices. And I agree - a more pleasant winter driving experience. :drive:
