How to Take a Door Off
So I took a door off while I've been tinkering. Here's how i did it...
WARNING Very Pic Heavy.
Step 1; remove the door trim using this guide by CCJ:
Door card. - How to remove.
Then take the internal hinge off by hitting it with a punch or waggling some pliers on it. You're aiming to pull it up and out.
Next time to take the speaker out. There's three cross head screws.
Then unclip the wire holder from its holder with a screw driver or pliers.. WARNING don't get giddy or you could break something.
Next theres a lot of wires in the bottom of the doors for the window mech. Be careful and unclip them.

Next unclip the "Door Snake" that holds your wires in with a screwdriver.
And pull the wires from your door card up and out of the hole where the door snake lives.
So now the wires are out shut the door slightly and start taking the nuts off. You'll need a ratchet spanner or ratchet handle and socket like what I used.
But some of the bolts / nuts whatever you want to call em are a bit tight for the standard ratchet so I had to get the "mini me" 1/4" ratchet out to take the ones you can't reach.
Here he is bless him :broon:

Now its magic time. You need to hold the door with your leg as the hinges are off or it will fall off and hurt you and your pride.
So press on the door with your knee then pick the door up from the other side. Theres loads of gaps in the metal to choose from.
So its off but it somewhere safe and scratchfree.

Very well done Ben! :broon:
I particulary liked the clever graphics.
One question.....Why did you take your door off?

another very quick way is to open your door just as a van is passing as one of my customers did, very fast and a very clean way of door removal.and you dont have the hassle of storage and lifting the dam thing.

Is it possible to remove a door without removing the wing as well ?

I'll tell you tomorrow.
I am trying to take the hinges off (bottom one) and the only way I can see is to go in through the wheel arch, so tomorrow the wheel comes off and the wheel liner comes out.

I'll look forward to it .
Looking at it today I wondered if the door would go back far enough with the "stop strap" removed to allow access to the bolts on the door side of the hinges rather than the A pillar ones ?
