Removing the front bumper on the MG F

I needed to remove my front bumper to remove both headlights on the MG F. The procedure is similar but not identical to the MG TF 'how-to'.

This is mainly a one person job but it does help to have an assistant to stop the bumper hitting the ground as you remove the 2 bolts that hold it in to the crush bar....the bumper itself is very light.

The bumper is held in place by 5 fasteners under the bonnet, 4 fasteners in each wheel arch and 2 bolts in to the crush box accessed by removing the inidicators. Here is 'how-to':

Start by removing the 5 fasteners under the bonnet

Then move to the wheel arches - expect rusty fittings (and replace with stainless steel!)

The only thing holding the bumper on are the 2 crush box bolts (17mm socket)

To access these remove the inidicator lights - unfortunately the plastic spring clips are likely to break and you will need to do the fix here: http://www.the-t-bar.com/en/forum/9-mgf-tf-pitstop/49935-mgf-broken-front-indicator-clip

You can now remove the 2 bolts (with your assistant to hold the bumper) and jiggle out each end from the loosened fastener under the wheel arch.

This is what it looks like with the bumper removed:

My next job was to remove both headlights - I'll write-up another 'how-to'.

Good stuff. Keep them coming. :broon:

It's nice to see the differences between the F and the TF.
