I am looking to upgrade the sound system in my TF to include DAB, ideally handsfree for the phone and iPod, any suggestions? Looking for good value and quality rather than spending loads.

What do you listen to most of the time?

To be honest there is no point spending much on the audio of an MGF :nonod:

I don't want to spend masses just to get something that sounds better than standard with is sh1t. I also want to use my iPod to listen to some stuff.

Main music at the moment is Joe Bonamassa, but listent to lots of different stuff.

I also like Mr Bonamassa, when I first heard him I thought SRV had come home, but alas not, still good though!

I'd always shy away from too many speakers for a start, 2.1 is the optimum system (in my opinion) - throwing more speakers at the problem will probably cause more confusion than it solves.

Do you mind buying second hand stuff?

This is about the best price new for something that ticks all the boxes. USB port can be used to charge most phones and power a sat nav too.

I have the non bluetooth version, does everything i need, radio text for good old R2, ipod control so i can lock the ipod in the glovebox sound quality good in my old discovery, not so good in the F as the speakers are shafted.

Last time i was in halfords they had some cheap panasonic ipod units, but no bluetooth.

Next question is do you have a decent DAB reception where you are going to be driving most of the time, as it'll suck if you go down the DAB route but can't actually listen to it.

I have Sony XS-F1727se in the doors ( 190 watt) and pioneers ts-a4613i in the t-bar ( 200 watt 3 ways). I have a Sony mex head unit, the overall sound is very good, and cost under £100 all in ( the Sony mex was 2nd hand off eBay )
I don't listen to enough radio to bother with dab, and I've got a stubby aerial and I doubt it'd get any reception. I play most music off a USB stick shoved in the slot on the front.

I likewise also had a Sony MEXBT(550?! rings a bell) bluetooth/iPod contoller/AD2P/MP3/CD unit I sold for a pittance on eBay about six months ago, was a damned good unit. Cost about £300, sold for £45 a year later.

No DAB, but literally every other way of listening to music possible, and a "modern" proper display.

Just something to bear in mind!
