Permanent live for radio
Just had to get a new stereo...nothing fancy, but need to know what I can connect to a permanent live to......
Its not holding stations, so I can only imagine its because there is a back up live....which I never noticed
Ideas anyone??
Thanks

I seem to recall having this problem before I think what it is is some car radios have the switched live and the permanent live the other way round to solve it if the wiring has two bullet connectors undo them and swap them over.

Normally the red and yellow wires in radio harness, one is permanent live and the other is switched live.
Swop the two over.
This should sort your problem.

as above , yellow = permanent live , red = switched live , by swapping over you may find the stereo still works even when the ignition is off but thats the only prob

Thanks guys, will give this a go.....
Does this mean I have to cut it at the car end of the radio end?? Never been good with the electrics...sorry!
I am sure there was a separate wire coming off the main harness labeled back up....thats why I thought this had to connect to the car in some other way, maybe to the clock or something?

First remove the radio from car.
Then you should have a harness of cables one end plugged into the radio and the other end plugged into the cars harness.
Unplug this from both ends.
Now cut the red and yellow wires, and fit a male and female bullet connector to either end of the cut cable.
You will then be able to simply plug the red into yellow and the yellow into the red cable.
In other words swop them over.
Doing it this way will be safe regarding short circuits Etc, and you will be able to reconnect them back to the original position, if this does not sort your problem.
Re backup, on my radio in the 75 this was for a rear view camera, however on yours, no idea, sorry.
Hope this helps.

Leave the cars harness alone do it on the radios own wiring harness , if youve got a wee enough screwdriver you can even get the "pins " out of the iso connectors and swap them over without the need for cutting .
this is the harness you should be messing with , in particular the plug on the left in the pic with the least amount of wires going into it
swap the red and yellow over and all should be well
