My first big trip

So pleased to say that I've done my first-ever bit of driving on a motorway! (M6 toll and M54) :woohoo: Just had a short break for the past few days in Wales with a couple of friends (one of them rode with me for moral support!) - drove the TF there from Sheffield and back and it's done me a world of good. There were a couple of anxious moments along the way (the most notable of which was on the M6 with a motorbike attempting to come past me on the inside when I was already partway through the manoeuvre back into the LH lane to get out of his way, after having clearly indicated to show my intentions to do so... :omg: ) but I feel so much more confident about driving now as I've now had experience of loads of different kinds of roads - from motorways down to tiny, winding single lane country tracks.

The weather was very kind so I've had some great fun, bazzing around winding NSL roads up and down valleys with the top down! :drive:

I've finally uploaded a couple of photos of my TF to an album on my profile by the way - taken outside the cottage I stayed in.

Corbeau, try a round trip Woodhead pass out and the Snake pass return, there is a cafe on woodhead for a soothing tea and steak pie bacon buttie van on the snake, don't do it on a Sunday though, on your return you will feel VERY elated.

I haven’t lost my marbles they are in a bag somewhere

I like the sound of that! My sister used to live in Manchester, so I'm familiar with the Snake (as a passenger) and I've always thought it must be great fun to drive it! :broon:

Ooh, meant to say - on the trip down to Wales (on Sat 18th), we passed through Shrewsbury and we saw quite a few MGB roadsters and GTs. At one point we were also following an absolutely immaculate vintage MG (not sure what model it was as I only saw the back of it - hard top, looked to be a late 40's/early 50's model - after a bit of googling, I now suspect it may have been a Y-type) - so presumably there was an MG/classic cars event going on in the area that weekend?
