Its been a pretty tough couple of days here in Tasmania, we have multiple bush fires burning across the state, several towns have been cut, two towns have been almost completely destroyed off and and well over 150 houses and businesses have been lost. At this stage there have been no confirmed deaths but there are concerns for a couple of people.

I think the following quote on the news piece says it all

"My message is there's only one you," Ms Gillard told ABC radio.

"Everything else in life, at the end of the day, no matter how precious, can be replaced."

Makes you stop and think doesn't it..... Hope everyone you care for are safe....

Thanks guys, we are ok at the moment most of the fires are in the south of the state, one of my mates down south has lost his whole farm luckily he and his family escaped by boat and my brother in law has a fire burning a couple of Km away at the moment. I have not got the call to head south to assist yet but I'm on standby. Fortunatly a cool change seems to be on the way so hopefully thing will settle down over night.

Hope it all goes well, as they said on TV, have a safety exit plan, and leave in plenty of time.

Brings it home a bit more now, we will be thinking of you, when we see the fires on the news.

Keep safe.

It's when you read a post like this, from someone you know, albeit virtually, that the horrible reality sinks in ..

I hope and pray all of you and yours keep safe and suffer no losses ..

Hi all, cooler weather over night has meant things have calmed down a bit here. We still have 21 active fires and 19 other fires that are under control, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. The best news is it looks like there have been no deaths or serious injury.

Cheers
Craig
