Goodyear F1 sidewalls

Speculation is that the small 'island' speed bumps you see in pairs are in part responsible for this kind of fatigue. A standard tyre deforms significantly more than normal on the sidewall when riding over these kind.
Maragonis and Goodyears were two brands that failed in the manner you describe ... that's not to say others are any better, just that testimonies came from owners of these brands.
that's my 2 cents anyway.

I rebuilt a1950 600 rigid rear end when I was a teenager, almost 40 years ago. Sacrilege now but I built it chopper style. Lovely, if ancient, design engine: single sloper engine with two port exhaust. If it kicked back you were clinging to the top of a lamppost.
Engine was load bearing: no front down tube. Which Honda claimed to have invented in the seventies!
You know there is serious compression when you have not one but two valve lifters!
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Ah, The Pig. Mick Abrahams and co. Some fine band DNA in there: Tull, Savoy Brown etc.
Oops, best get back on topic. Glad you found the tyre fault before it found you.

I'd rather spend money on tyres than spend time in hospital.
I presume the meet is still on in Lytchett Matravers tomorrow?
