Hello All :-)

I brought a GoPro Hero camera for my Skiing trip earlier on in the year but knew there was more in store for the camera than to just be mounted on a person......why not mount in on a car!!!....or to be more precise mount it to the beloved Bugs aka 2002 TF 135 :-D

Ever since buying the camera I've always wanted to mount it on the car, and in preparation for the upcoming road trip later in the year what better way to get some practice in than going for a drive with the camera stuck on various places and then some rough editing in iMovie on a borrowed MacBook Pro.

I've done 2 videos. The first one I tried to be a bit more serious and car focussed but the second I just had a bit of fun - hopefully Youtube hasn't removed the music of the second. It was Roxette's Joyride - I'm sure I don't need to say although it was indeed a joyous ride the vehicle is owned, taxed, insured and mot'd and while fun all driving was done within the correct side of the law.

Any comments welcome :-)

Hope you've all had a good day

may be have the car aproaching from a country winding track and then on a fast straight over the camera........dont know about editing the vid to show the rear of the car driving away.......with a great choice of rock music in the background......even a shot of the road wheels or the revcounter thrown in for good measure........project for the summer :broon:

Sounds like a good idea. Another one would be pulling away from the camera in one shot (lots of noise of course) then at the end come to a halt before the camera :-)

I was amused by the spokes and nuts on the wheel at the start of the original video, the way they rotate the wrong way and they are not in sync.
(it's down to shutter speed, they got around it in early westerns by having the spokes unevenly spaced)

I was also amused when you joined the dual carriageway and the can panned sideways.

Cheers talkingcars, didn't know that about the westerns :-) The camera wasn't supposed to pan to the right when I joined the dual carriageway - it was the wind on the camera, don't think I had tightened it enough! Then it fell off the headrest a bit later on. If the suction cup failed though though when on the body it was tied onto the wing mirror with string.

yes that was interesting about the western wagon wheels..........thought it looked rather good on the tf.......spinning one way and the other........i first bought a cheap camera off ebay some years ago....my plan was to connect it to a cheap rc drone and get some ariel shots....but there quite common to buy now with cameras built in.........the small camera i bought was around £5 and for the price gave reasonable quality shots........it takes stills and video and is cheap enough not to worry about if it flew off the car down the m6.............may even withstand a runover.....ive stuck one on a car with stick on velcro pads......these small cameras are advertised as spycams and are made to look and are the size of a car key fob........but i think i will get a gopro cam........below is the small cam which is shown on youtube and sold on the bay of e...........ive even stuck one on the bird feeder to get a birdeye view of our featherd friends......

That little keyfob camera looks cool, could get into all sorts of trouble with one of those.

I really brought the GoPro for skiing but knew it had many other feathers in it's cap, or at least that was the justification. I'd really love to attach it to a nitro r/c car but unfortunately don't have one.

It's only a GoPro 3 white edition but doesn't do a bad job. Just discovered on the Mac I can crop the video too so have done one of just the nice sounding bits of my trips today. Think the car is sounded pretty good for stock exhaust and air filter.
