:bang: As the title says who feels sick because I bet there are a few of the old timers out there like me has had one or two of these motors...and just didn't realise if we hung on what they would be worth!!!!! :slapme: :slapme:

Out of interest I recently started to put together a list of all the cars I have ever owned or driven
This started with an Austin A35 Estate and includes gems such as a Hillman Imp, several Minis one of which was an original Austin which now would probably be worth something, if it hadn't fallen apart.
Best car I owned was a Datsun 160J SSS Coupe which I thought was stylish and went like the clappers. Worst car I owned was a Sierra 2.0 Ghia which was crap.
Best car I have driven was a Datsun 240Z.
So, nothing too exotic but I wish I had either of the Datsuns now.

Ya my list went something like:

VW Scirroco Mk1 GLi - £2000 - sold to someone who broke it

Escort MK4 1600 - company car - redundancy

Pug 104 - £100 - was ex wifes car - scrapped

Alfa 33 greenclover leaf 1500 - £800 - sold to Alfa specialist for scrapping

2 x K series Metro 1100 - lease cars from BSM - left BSM

Pug 205 Diesel Style - lease car from CIA - bought my own car and then started my own school

VW Devon Camper 1600 £800 - eventually cut up

Fiesta Ghia MK2 1100 - £2000 - traded in (used for teaching)

Mini 1100 clubman - swapped for 4 driving lessons (mot failure) - sat in my drive and garage for 10 years, eventually dumped it and council towed away

Maestro 1.6L - £3000 - used for teaching until I stopped - traded in

VW Camper (half rebuilt) - £100 - never collected, got refund

Montego Estate 2.0SLXi - £4000 - broke

VW Baja bug - £500 - sold for £800

VW Bay Minibus - stole from a car park! - given to someone to pay for work in Baja bug that he never did, blame the ex!

Maestro Van 1300 - got given - scraped

MG Montego turbo - £100 - bought (part striped) for engine, ex screwed that up

MG Metro 1300 - £400 - sold as MOT failure on eBay for £70

MG Montego 2.0i - £250 - sold to some one who scraped it

MG Maestro EFi - £90 - bought on eBay, told it need a new coil, didn't get told HG had gone, striped it and let council tow

MG Maestro 2.0i - £325 - also on eBay but was better than I was told - now running with a turbo T16 engine
Renault Espace V6 - free from my sister - traded in

MG Maestro 1.6 - bought through eBay for £180, sold again through eBay for £235
Maestro 1.6L - £30 for the remaining tax - wife's car - striped and delivered to scrapyard
Maestro 2.0TD - Total cost was £365inc 10 months tax wifes new car - still got.
Range Rover Classic Vouge SE 3.5 V8 Auto - £900 and the Espace - still got

87 Suzuki gsx550efe nicked and crashed after a police chase
84 Suzuki katana 1100 taken from roadside after engine failure, fished out of a canal a few miles away.
90 Honda cbr600, crashed and rebuilt, given to then girlfriend (now wife)as first bike, sold
96 Honda cbr600 kept for 8 years, now residing in Poland after eBay sale

Who would have thought that a Series 1 would be worth £26K. I bought mine in 1973 for transport during a year in the Outer Hebrides. It was a great choice for that area and was off road more than on. When the starter motor packed-up I just swung it on the handle. Think it cost me £150 and I sold it 2 years later to a coastal fisherman for £80 for hauling salmon nets off the beach. It was brilliant in 'jeep' mode - ie no roof or upper doors and the screen folded. Totally scary above 40 MPH.

The best 2 collectors car that I have owned were a 1981 Alfasud 1.5 Ti and a 1981 Alfa GTV 2000.

You had to stop and "collect" the bits that had dropped off!
Both rusted before your eyes and needed fettling every few weeks,but they were the BEST cars that I have ever owned despite all their flaws.

And now I have had my TF for just over a year and think its great as you can work on it yourself and its not your normal sterile euro box.
I get more fun out of it than any of our VXR's at work.

I wish that I still had a few of the more desirable ones from the list above,some are now worth a small fortune !
