My MGF runs and idles fine, start first time every time. After going over some speed bumps, she no longer pulls when accelerating. I can get up to cruising speed, but it takes soooo much time. I found the distributor cap heavily pitted and thought I had found the problem, but onced changed no difference. The exhaust note gets a little rough when accelerating, but returns to normal once cruising. Any ideas???

No nothing, this is a MEMS 1.9, not sure if the MIL light does so much with this engine. Can't even hook it up to a generic code finder, it neens a T4!

I would start with the basics such as checking your spark plugs, leads and coil, check also that your air filter is not blocked and replace your fuel filter if not changed recently.

One more thing, check that when you press your accelerator pedal that the throttle flap opens fully

Is there any visible damage underneath after going over the speedbump?

People have had this problem when the CAT collapses and causes an obstruction. It's the only thing I can think of that may be vulnerable to speed humps.

Thanks I will check this. I cannot see any damage, and it was only a light scrape. I have checked the air filter, and throttle flap. My next action was to be the plugs and leads. She's due a service soon, may get this done sooner.....

Defo mate.. get it seen too as soon as possible... If you let a problem linger it may compound over time and make it worse

That's it CAT changed, and she runs like a dream!!
Paid a £197 for CAT, back box and all sundry bit from Sussex Classic Car. A bit more than ebay, but I am doing my bit to support a local MG supplier.
