soft top, hard top dilemma was created by gos

ok I have a bit of a dilemma, I want a new glass screen soft top, money is scarce ( a hgf and clutch failure on the wifes rover 25 didnt help either, 850 quid ouch)

anyway my dilemma is; do I sell my hard top to fund it?

BB is a Sunstorm ltd edition and the hard top is part of the spec so it may be harder to sell on when the time comes if the hard top is missing. On the other hand I have modded the car so it is no longer original anyway and will a buyer be too bothered about a hard top.

and to top it all (pun intended) I like the look of the car with the hard top on.

so whats your opinions chaps & chapesses?

Thats a toughie mate!

Would you be selling the HT just to buy a glass screen ST or to make up some moolah from your missus car?

Hard top is a selling point, but I don't like them anyway so I am biased. Hard tops are for southern shandy drinkers.

You will probably get more for the hard top selling it seperately than including it with the car when you sell it, and now is the time to sell.

Hey us southerners drink only single malts I'll have you know! Unlike you crass northern lot who can be found slurping on a can of Tennants! :p

Gos - I'd be tempted to have two "roofs" rather than one just in case your soft top gets damaged however with a glass rear screen that's less likely to happen... oooh it's a toughie... probably a glass rear screen then.

Hey, I'll have you know that us crass northerners have a wide variety of tastes. Not only Tennants but White Lightning, Newcastle Broon, Meths and White spirit.

well thanks for the comments all.

it is indeed a toughie, I might ponder a bit longer, I really would like to have both :)

as far as the southern northern thing, I am a northener living in the south so I win (or lose) all round :o

my soft top has a couple of small holes (patched) ans the screen has been replaced in the past so I want rather than need it really.

it is purely to fund the soft top, having done some research it will cost around 600 squid fitted.

Hmmmm I say try and keep both but I would think you'd prolly get more use/benefit from the glass screen ST so go for that! Good luck on a difficult decision

Notice that CJJ just a "single malt" , whats wrong with a full bottle ?

Went to a festival up at Jedburgh, and boy did they shift some stuff. When I asked how much whisky was drunk they explained that at least two cases of Vodka had gone. Looking puzzled they explained well who up here drinks Vodka ?:partyhat1:

I don't think your average buyer would know that the spec of your car included a hardtop as standard Gos.

If I had to choose between the 2, I would rather have a glass screen in my soft top than keep the plastic screened version and have the hardtop, reason being that that hardtop is only on for about 3 -4 months so you would miss it less.

But if you can - keep both:)

thanks, I really want the glass soft top and keep the hard one too, altho I probably wouldnt bother fitting the hard one anyway (its not fitted at the mo)

one possibly silly question springs to mind.......

would the hard top still fit over the glass screen soft top? anyone got both?
