Posted 14 years 11 months ago #5144in other words, the bulbs are pants! i thought this when i first got my TF but sort of got used to blundering about in the dark at high speed... now i'm thinking i need some better bulbs
any ideas?/suggestions/recommendations? my Audi used to light up three counties when i had the side lights on and im looking for something like that level of light
Edit: P.S. if anyone ever tells my mum i preferred so much as a lightbulb in her tic-tac-tin over my beloved Bucephalus i will hunt them down and murderlise them

I'm afraid I can't help here, but I would love some suggestions. I can't believe how poor the lights are after being in something else. (Other than a Puma... The lights are far worse on them!)

Posted 14 years 11 months ago #5147HID conversions aren't legal and are not particularly suited to the TF due to it's bouncy nature.
Are the lenses misted and are the lights set up properly? Might be worth taking them to a garage and getting them to check the beams.
While the lights aren't the best ones out there, they are pretty good, especially compared to the F. I find them good enough at 70+ on country lanes. One reason they seem worse thn a normal car is that they are lower, which does make a difference when projecting a beam.
I know it is a boring suggestion, but the proper way to do it is to slow down. If you cannot see far enough ahead then you should slow down to a suitable speed. Dark nights/mornings are hazardous at these times of the year and I'm not sure being able to increase your speed is such a good thing.

Posted 14 years 11 months ago #5174Or as mentioned, the HID kit is the only true way to get decent light output bearing in mind legality issues.

H1 from memory but check as I could be wrong.
As above I fitted some brighter bulbs in the F and it made a big difference:yesnod:

Posted 14 years 11 months ago #5180The good Mrs thatone (before we were together I hasten to add) had a similar problem with her Ford Ka, and it was getting steadily worse...
She decided after several days to bite the bullet, and take the car to her local friendly mechanic, after dropping the car off, she waited anxiously by the phone expecting a phone call threatening a big bill..
They called shortly after, with " No charge madam, we just gave them a wash, they are fine now....."
