In case any one is interested the bus picture is part of the fleet belonging to Quantock Motor Services of Taunton, Somerset. The red coach is one of their modern fleet. I don't know what it is but think it may have a Plaxton body. The brown and cream half cab single decker is a 1949 AEC Regal with Windover bodywork and the opentop double decker is a 1957 Bristol Lodekka that was converted from a closed top in 1972.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

OK, now for something different. I think.
Which MG model (and be specific about the style) was the source of inspiration to Gerry McGovern when he was designing the front end of the MGF?

Would that be
Gerry McGovern's MG F-16 was the first MG project to follow hard on the heels of the EX-E. This delicious convertible looked reasonably similar to the eventual MGF but it was actually front engined and front wheel drive. The body formed the basis of the later PR1, PR2 and PR3 prototypes - and therefore, can be considered the point at which the 'F was born

Er, EX-E was a hard top mid-engined, 4WD V6 prototype (Metro 6R4 running gear), which gave the MGF it's rear end styling theme. I don't ever recall there being a convertible version of the prototype? And the front end was very different to the MGF.
I don't know for sure, but I seem to recall something about McCovern basing the front end on a rubber bumper MGB. Could be wrong though.

By May 1991, MGA signed off their PR3 proposal and passed it over to Canley for final productionsation by EX-E stylist, Gerry McGovern and Gordon Sked. Many subtle changes were made at this stage of the process – the windscreen became lower, flanks were lowered and the overhangs shortened. Significantly, major changes were made to the front of the car, where fuller, rounder headlights were incorporated and a traditional MG grille arrangement that aped the post-1976 MGB. Happily, the Gerry McGovern arrangement was considerably more stylish than the rather heavy-handed original.
But what do I know!
