For a complete list of vehicles featured in TinTin books see http://dardel.info/tintin/ListeAutos.php and yes the Hanomag Matador, the Mercedes L 206 and MGA are all there. Unfortunately I didn't realise this when I set the question the only vehicle I could recall as definitely in TinTin books was the Citroen Traction

...I think mgmads answer is more impressive though! Well done.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

You could have saved that for a quiz question!

... My level of q would be more like 'how many large tubs of P40 did my Midget consume when I was a student in the 70's' :)

A very topical question, with the Border Patrol off to Italy and links back to the question from last week about 'Eddie' Ramsden Hall.

The Photographer is the Italian racing legend known as Il Montavano Volante, the Flying Mantuan - Tazio Nuvolari

For the background to this extraordinary man see here for a brief history of his achievements

The MG link? 1933 also saw him travel to Northern Ireland for the Tourist Trophy Race and a drive in a supercharged MG K3 Magnette. After totally dominating the race someone asked him if he liked the MG's brakes. Nuvolari replied he couldn't really tell, he hadn't used them that much.

 extra clues needed?

The 'Yellow Angels' are a part of ADAC (Allgemeiner Deutscher Automobil-Club e.V.) Germany's and Europe's largest automobile club, with more than 18 million members. In addition to breakdown assistance they offer other services and the MG in question was used to .... Aahhh that would be telling. A quick google should have you posting the answer in a couple of mins :yesnod:

:nonod: No takers... never mind.

The answer to the question was the MG ZR 160 which ADAC picked ahead of some mighty German competition. It used a fleet of 100 MG ZR 160 cars at its 60 training centres around the Germany. Drivers learnt the safe way to handle a high performance car, on ADAC's purpose-built handling areas, which simulate difficult driving conditions such as heavy rain, ice and snow.

Around 140,000 drivers a year choose to improve their knowledge and skill by visiting an ADAC centre.

The MG ZR was selected for its superb handling feel and powerful performance.

On to a new question

Simply take a look at the car below and tell us the MG link

IIRC, the MGSV whupped its 911 asre on Top Gear on the power lap times. May not be the right answer, but it sure is nice repeating it!!

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

 The MG SV lap time was 1:28.6, the Porsche 911Carrera S time was 1:28.9 - hardly a whipping and you did fail to mention that the Porsche 911 GT3 did it in 1:27.2 with the Porsche 911 Carrera 2S managing the lap in 1:26.2 not forgetting the Porsche 911 GT3 RS which achieved a lap time of 1:22.3 a full 6.3 seconds faster than the MG SV.

Sorry the Top Gear lap is not the MG link I'm looking for.

Alternative answer, harking back to previous questions: did Tin Tin beat Cap'n Haddocks Porshe while driving a MGB in a thrilling road race?
...perhaps not.
Porches: a Beetle in a miniskirt.
When did they become "Porsherrrs" anyway?
If its the correct pronunciation thing, BMW should be BMV and VW should be FV!
Ask any Germanic person....

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
