:bang: Took me half an hour to finally figure this one out.

I made the mistake of thinking the middle image was of a spring onion

This is, I believe, one of Martin's favourite cars mentioned just a couple of weeks ago in the quiz.

The car was the product of a chance meeting between a Welsh master butcher and a German engineer, GILes Smith and BERNard Friese.

The Gilbern GT.

Here is an extract from the Gilbern website article on the history behind the cars (click here to view full article)

The original cars were based around Austin A35 mechanical components all had steel wheels and leaf springs at the rear, while a variety of engines were offered, either supercharged or the Coventry Climax. In 1961 a site was purchased with a loan of £700 from Giles father. This had formerly been the site of the Red Ash Colliery but had not operated since 1921, just a mile from Church Village next to Llantwit Fardre railway station.
A collection of second hand pre fabs were acquired which Giles and Bernard then erected. Only part of the site was used by Gilbern with other units being rented out, most notably to Pats Pickles. During 1961-62 cars were built at the rate of about 1 a month with about 5 people in total working at the factory, both Giles and Bernard being heavily involved in the actual building of the cars.
Changes to the GT were gradually made introducing wire wheels and trailing arm suspension at the rear. As time past the cars became more standardised firstly with the MGA engine and then the MGB, becoming the Gilbern GT1800.

The event - The MG Car Club European Event of the year
2011 - Belgium
2012 - Sweden
2013 - Aviemore, Scotland, 16-20 August, hosted by the MGCC Caledonian Centre

Just to add that last month, cruisin up the M6 in Cumbria in my MG1300, I was passed by a woodcote green RV8 with magnetic ad's on the side for this event. Naturally I was ignored when I waved :bang:

Fast and Furious Haggis

This was the title used by next years sponsor of the MG Car Club's European Event of the Year, Stahly Quality Foods, producers of award winning traditional Scottish haggis.

Stahly Quality Foods are proud to sponsor this event which holds a special place in Ken Stahly’s heart, being the proud owner of a 1970 MG originally belonging to his mother, Ann.

The car began its life as an MGB GT but, after being left in a garage for many years, it was lovingly restored and re-emerged as a Roadster.

The 2013 European Event of the Year event will be based in Aviemore at the heart of the Cairngorms National Park in the beautiful Scottish Highlands and it will run from Friday, 16th August to Tuesday, 20th August 2013.

Martin needs to catch up on a bit of rest so if anyone would like to post a question feel free.

What product could you, or can you, buy from Moss Europe to give an MGB 40% more power for under £3,000.00?

You don't need £3000 :nonod:

£300 is nearer the mark

It has been said the B series engine is almost bomb proof so fitting this should be ok

:bust:

I was joking before the ..... Oh no you won't get 40% out of that

More like 130bhp if I recall, I know the flywheel figure was quoted at around 95bhp as standard on the B Series (in old money of course but thereabouts). My MG BGT that I previously had with a n/asp stage 2, balanced engine with 714 cam and EDIS electronic ignition managed 110bhp at the rear wheels on a local rolling road to me.
