MG T-Bar Quiz
They are the same engine but with different cams
118bhp
Inlet: opens 12º BTDC, closes 52º ABDC; lift 8.8mm
Exhaust: opens 52º BBDC, closes 12ºATDC; lift 8.8mm
Valve open duration: 244º
134bhp
Inlet: opens 11º BTDC, closes 61º ABDC; lift 9.5mm
Exhaust: opens 51º BBDC, closes 21ºATDC; lift 9.5mm
Valve open duration: 252º
So the valves remain open longer, with a larger lift, which results in the engine breathing better and the production of that extra 16bhp

nickname of a 1500cc class car the EX181, driven by none other than Sterling Moss, achieved 245.64 mph in 1957, 50 mph faster than he had ever driven in his life. Two years later the car, driven by Phil Hill, reached 254.91mph, making the EX181 the fastest ever M.G. - a record which still stands today.
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Yep, spot on. Over to you John.
Just to add, Stirling Moss' 1km and 1mile world records set in 1957 still stand today for the 1100-1500cc class, as do Phil Hill's similar records for the 1500-2000cc class set in '59.

The only link I can find between the Ferrari 250 GT California and MG is that in the 1986 hit film Ferris Bueller's Day Off, three replica 250 GT's were constructed for use in the film and used parts from the MGB, including boot and rear lights. Apparently one was auctioned in the UK in April 2010 and went for £20,000

There is some uncertainty about the exact model but I believe it is a MG J2 Midget.

Here is a MG F1 Magna from the same era
Very similar but the J2 has a bar running across the radiator to which the headlights are mounted where as the F1 does not.
