Ahhyou go to midnight mass as well! Then how come you don't like chrimbo? :humbug:
rly?! i went a few years ago with college it snowed when we were ontop of the empire state building was werid and yet amazing... and we went to see the nicks, and theyy flashed up "the new york nicks welcomes bede college all the way from england!" only like 200 people went to our college and we had all madison square gardens cheering us!!
and i love CHRISTmas.... emphasis on christ... i hate having to put up with cheezy songs everywhere i go, huge rushes and ques everywhere, not being able to drive through middlesbrough because the crazed shoppers are clogging 10 postcoads, the horrible commercialism... the fact that evan 5 year olds don't believe in santa and throw paddys if they dont get £500 spent on them for the latest playstation and games... and that more people can now name 12 premiership footballers than the 12 apostles
rant over lol

:tumbleweed: Bloody hell that was quite a rant... :respect:
Ok firstly OMG I am so jealous that is snowed when you were on top of the empire state building! :jealous:
Secondly, I don't see why you can't have both. :dunno: The whole point of Christmas is to celebrate Christ's birth. You can do that by going to midnight mass, having parties, meeting family and giving gifts (like the 3 wise men). I love the cheesy songs and am definitely a crazy shopper but I also go to mass as the point is not to be all somber and hide yourself away from everyone and everything - the point is to get out there and celebrate - cheesy songs and all! :xmasparty:

Hello Santa how are you and how is Alfie?
HO HO HO, Alfie who?
You know Santa, one of your elves
Oh I have so many elves sometimes I forget some of them.
But you can't forget Alfie, he runs your toy maker.
Oh THAT Alfie, he is good thank you.
The Moral of this is; Santa really does have to think on his feet.....lol
On the traditional side of Christmas, while I am not a "believer" I do respect those who are, and in the interests of getting him a better education than is available in the local state school system I have sent Jamie to a Local Christian school where they are still allowed to teach religion, so he can become informed and make up his own mind about faith when he is ready. As part of this he appeared as one of the wise men in the School Nativity and has therefore spent the past 5 weeks wandering around singing carols at the top of his lungs.
He even went through his Toy Box and picked out toys to donate to the giving tree, saying he wanted to give them to little girls and boys who's mummies and Daddies couldn't afford to rent Santa. I have no idea where renting Santa came from but who said Christmas isn't still alive and well in the young.

Aww your son sounds sooo adorable! I remember we used to make boxes with old or unwanted toys in to give to less fortunate children. I think it's a great idea as it teaches us responsibility and charity from a young age. We are fortunate in our situation and therefore it is up to us to help those who aren't. :grouphug:
