Towing an F Yes/No
http://www.the-t-bar.com/showthread.php?t=736
I think where the problem comes in is when someone asks "Can I tow my F/TF" then the answer is no for one good reason, all they will have is a tow rope.
No one doubts that you can tow these cars, but you need specialised equipment. Even with a towing bar it is questionable whether the towing equipment will foul the front bumper, especially if the car is lowered or fitted with a diffuser/spoiler and the towing car is higher.
I would always say that the only way to safely recover an F/TF is using a trailer, dolly or truck, but it is at the owners risk.
I would say that as soon as you say it is possible, then someone will just use a rope around the tiedown eyelets.

Thanks for you reply Clive. I see that my post could cause that confusion.
I will amend my post to clarify the position. As to replies - I have added an open sticky thread for just that reason.
Undoubtedly, towing should only be undertaken with the correct equipment and by suitably experienced people.
While you say 'No one doubts that you can tow these cars' I will have disagree with you on that. In fact, there are a lot of people who will tell you precisely that.
My post was intended to clarify that misconception.
Your proviso about lowered cars/splitters/towing vehicle height etc is valid for all cars, not just ours, as I know to my cost.
(My Nissan is lowered and has a splitter, and has had the numberplate pulled off and the splitter gouged by someone trying to put it on a recovery truck.)
I will amend my guide, to cover your concerns, hopefully.
