Well, it's finally happened.
Yesterday the ongoing thaw had reduced the snow enough, so that with the new wheels and tyres on, we managed to get the MG out of the drive; out of the village;out along 2 miles of ungritted single track road; onto the gritted A6; and went shopping. Woohoo!!!
That's the first time I have been out of the village since December 19th and it felt so goooooooooooooooooooood!:yesnod:

That is a true postcard scene, nice but not when you have to live in it.

It was good, very good!

God knows how people survive prison!

It's weird because, normally I love being here, just us and the dogs. But I can always pop into car and go for a drive or visit family if I want.

It's different, somehow, when you know you can't get out!

Still the F is now equipped with steel wheels and thinner knobbly tyres, and takes the snow quite well.:yesnod:

Very true, mate.

A week snowed in is great. Real 'gather round the log fire and make thick broth to eat with home-made bread' and all that.

But more than three weeks is no fun! Not when the pile of logs you have spent hours cutting for winter fuel is frozen into one huge impenetrable pyramid.:rolleyes2::rolleyes2:

Adam, I don't give a f.................. err, I'm not bothered what anybody thinks.

When I was driving home last night I was following a Peugeot 307 that took an involuntary lurch into the verge three times in a 100 meters and finally had to park up. I must admit when I passed the guy walking towards his home, he did give me an odd look - it was either astonishment, disbelief or jealousy!!!;)

ps Oh look outside - deep joy, - more damn snow!
