Congratulations Alan. I felt confident that you'd find away to keep both MGs.

Im hoping i havent put too much of an angle of attack on the aerofoil and it pulls the front end down (4 deg) although Not travelling at Mach 1 it probably wont make any noticeable difference. It may just look slightly cool. More pics to follow.

Fitted a new front badge (from MG Mania Ltd)

The 15 year old octagon was looking quite tired:

I was going to remove it then push in the new one (which has 3m adhesive on the back) but when I did a size check, the new badge fitted flush with the chrome surround which I think looks better so after a de-grease, I simply stuck it on top:

So the car has kept its original badge. Apart form giving the de-greaser a few minutes to evaporate, this is a 30 second job. I've ordered a 2nd badge to do the same at the rear.

OK, so having replaced the front badge (see above) I decided to replace the rear one too. It wasn't as badly faded as the front but the brown octagon had mostly gone and a corner of the M was on its way too.

This time though I had to remove the old badge as the new one would have stood proud of the plinth. I used a thin blade in a corner to lift it off then some solvent to remove the old glue. The old badge more or less fell to pieces as it was removed - very brittle.

This is the plinth ready for the new badge:

And this is the finished job.

I really like the octagon used on the RV8/F/TF/Zeds which is far closer to the original first used in 1928 than everything from the early 50s onwards where the colours kept being messed with.

Finally got my MGF SE back on the road after three years, and that's after two house moves, one divorce and an impending wedding at the end of August.
Removed engine and rear subframe, derusted subframe and painted, rebuilt engine, with new bearings, oil pump, updated bearing ladder and head gasket, with new bolts. New water pump, timing belt and tensioner. PRT and hoses fitted, stainless underfloor pipes, new engine block coolant rail, aluminium radiator, new expansion tank with low water level alarm.
Retro fitted OEM aircon, loom, condenser, evaporator, compressor, receiver dryer.
New stainless exhaust, down pipe and four branch manifold, 52mm throttle body .

New rear track control arms, shocks, wheel bearings and top joints. At the front, new track rod ends , lower ball joints and top ball joints.
New clutch, and slave cylinder plus uprated clutch operating arm, new clutch master cylinder.
New brake master cylinder, rebuilt callipers, new engine bay brake pipes and new brake pipe from front to rear, including replacing broken clips on underside.
The front subframe is now looking very sorry for itself so it will be coming out soon for a spruce up.
