Posted 8 years 4 months ago #170194The 15 year old octagon was looking quite tired:
I was going to remove it then push in the new one (which has 3m adhesive on the back) but when I did a size check, the new badge fitted flush with the chrome surround which I think looks better so after a de-grease, I simply stuck it on top:
So the car has kept its original badge. Apart form giving the de-greaser a few minutes to evaporate, this is a 30 second job. I've ordered a 2nd badge to do the same at the rear.

Posted 8 years 4 months ago #170245This time though I had to remove the old badge as the new one would have stood proud of the plinth. I used a thin blade in a corner to lift it off then some solvent to remove the old glue. The old badge more or less fell to pieces as it was removed - very brittle.
This is the plinth ready for the new badge:
And this is the finished job.
I really like the octagon used on the RV8/F/TF/Zeds which is far closer to the original first used in 1928 than everything from the early 50s onwards where the colours kept being messed with.
