The World's Most Exciting Car to Drive was created by pgew

As I'm starting to look around for a 160 to replace my totalled 135 (see Adam's pics) I came across the quote from the Project Phoenix book, by Gordon Sked, who had taken over Rover styling. The reason I've gone TF bonkers is that reason, but I wondered what the rest of you feel? It seems to me that good, but then I haven't driven a Porsche or a Ferrari, but I do wonder if they or an XK F is as much fun to drive?...

I could drive a Ferrari 348 some years ago and had my father in law's Porsche Boxster from time to time.

(170mph on a German Autobahn...):drive:

To be honest, both cars are disappointing...
The Porsche is too perfect - it's fast but there's never the feeling of driving a sporty car. A nice comfortable convertible but boooooring.

The Ferrari was quite exciting to drive, very pure. From the general feeling quite close to my TF - but it costs 30x the price and does not give 30x the fun... :nonod:

The fun and feeling a F/TF delivers for small money is invaluable! :woohoo:

Worlds most exciting car ... the TF :bust:

:nonod: No it's not and doesn't even come close.

Have driven the new jaguar F-Type, now there is an exciting car the V8 is completely bonkers and the V6 is almost as exciting without the feeling it will, when it decides, send you backwards through the pearly gates in a great fire ball.

BMW M3 convertible, yes definitely more exciting and how about a Lotus Elise. Truth be told there are dozens if not hundreds of cars more exciting.

A more exciting car than the TF that can be used everyday, is cheap to insure, parts are cheap and can be bought for peanuts.......

Yes there is one ...

The MGF :drive:

Shsssh for goodness sake don't tell everyone what a good deal the F / TF is they'll all be after one and our prices will rise.

Pound for pound, there's some tremendous drives to be had in an MG. :yesnod: For the newbies that haven't seen this video, this isn't me in the movie, I daren't drive as exciting as that. :P However, in the right hands, on the right roads, it shows great performance ability and, as we all know, they're still great breezing along at 30mph with the top down. Especially in this nice sunny weather we're having right now. :broon:

i think The World's Most Exciting Car to Drive depends on where you have to play with it, and how the car responds in that environment.
all the modern 911 / Jags / insert supercar name are tedious at best when driven legally on UK roads, dangerous to other folk when not.
god im getting old. :woo2:

'tedious' :-? Have you ever driven the new Jaguar F-Type or XK convertible or a 911? Strangely tedious is not a word which ever came into my mind. :drive:

I should add that it was the aim that the design team had, not a claim they made - that's what they set out to do - which is ambitious for a modestly-priced car. The question is how close they came to realising it - and from the Rover parts box - a rather British way of making the best of few resources...

Only 250cc go karting still gets me interested lately ,granted there are some nice parts of the country to drive but generally daily commuting in west midlands driving is generally boring for me regardless of the vehicle i am in
.Lately too much traffic ,roadworks, speed cameras and traffic lights spend more time on the brakes than throttle.

"The worlds most exciting car to drive" is a bit of a tall order, I driven all sorts of stuff from 1920's vintage stuff, V12 exotics, fire breathing modified offroaders to brutal V8 muscle cars, and classic sports cars.
They can all be exciting in their own way.
But one thing that our cars do better than anything else is offer more bang for the bucks.
Nothing else in the price range can match them for the fun factor.
Indeed there are cars that are a lot more expensive that can't get close to matching them for the fun factor.
When I take my F out for a good fanging, you couldn't knock the grin off my face with a bloody sledge hammer!

BTW for those of you not familiar with the term "fanging" it's aussie slang for driving like the late great Juan Manuel Fangio.

yes, and given the conditions GT MG has described above, trickling 400hp up the road is tedious.
you'd have more fun thrashing the knackers off a fiesta st..

the F or TF are :drive:

Mini Cooper with MG Turbo blower on was the best car I ever had. Just wish I could have held onto it for a bit longer. It died of multiple failures and was part exchanged with a corsa :(
