Remote boot release servo was created by SundanceUK

Just fitted my remote boot release servo, but decided to mount it a bit different than the instructions supplied with the kit.
Think it looks a bit neater and it uses the space behind the boot catch to house the servo motor.

I have not wired it up yet but I am thinking of different ways to control it, including using the boot release switch on my recently bought keyfob.

Hi Sundance. That looks very neat . I have been contemplating doing something to my TF as I don't want to do what a friend of mine did recently and shut the boot with the keys still inside. Have you got a link to the site where you bought yours from ? Are you just going to wire it to the C/L and fob and not have an internal button as some folk favour ?

It depends on if I can use the button on my new keyfob, if not I may buy a fob transmitter/receiver from ebay. Cheap as chips.
I bought the unit from ebay about a year ago, so just have a browse and see whats on there.

Fatbaldingbloke managed to get the boot release button working on his LE500, he detailed the project somewhere on the forum.

Just occurred to me, forget the keyfob idea, as if I lock my keys in the boot by accident, I would still be no better off. So its going to have to be a discretely installed button operation.

Yes , I'm in favour of the button hidden somewhere.

I am planning to install a hidden reed switch somewhere.

hi there -you can mount the servo behind the lock so it is hidden -in that space
unless that is what you did anyway

Yes, the servo can be placed behind the lock; that's how I installed the servo on my wife's F.

Mark, Did you install it to operate by push or pull action. I'm hoping to mount mine in the same space.
I have had one of the E-bay kits on hand for several years and never got around to installing it.
Recently I saw that Rimmers stocks the factory solenoids from the Chinese TFs so I ordered one of them.
I expected some no-name or Chinese branded part but it was made by Rockwell International which is nice.
I have got a switch from a Rover 75 to operate the release. I just have to find the best place to mount it.

Hi Rich . If possible could you let me have the part number from the solenoid as I would like to fit one to my TF.

Cheers John .

Rich, it I were to hazard a guess it would be push. Mine is setup very similar to the picture posted by Sundance but within the lock's metal structure.
