anti freeze replacement

has anyone put the new stuff in the water system that does not boil???. I have seen it on EBAY but would cost over a hundred pounds, but is it worth it? and can anyone reply who is useing it at this presant time .

It's not new, it's been around for years.

Personally I haven't because I can't justify the cost compared to £12 for 5 litres of OAT.

I saw it used on Wheeler Dealers once. They had to flush the system loads and make sure there was no water at all left in system before adding it. Then there is the cost - which isn't going to be fun to replace if you have a leak or two develop! Only benefit is the much higher boiling point - way above an overheated engine, so it doesn't boil out. No real benefit apart from that I can see.

It boils around 375 degrees f

I use 4 life coolant which is waterless, costs around £68 For 25 litres it boils at 180 deg so doesent cause pressure in the cooling system so helps protect pipes from pressure blow outs, it changes from red to yellow in the presence of exhaust gasses so early warning of HGF, ok it's more than OAT but provided you have a leak free system it lasts ten years so it's cost effective its available in 1 and 5 litre too but I bought the large container just in case, that was 5 years ago.

thanks did you replace this yourself or did you take it to a garage? the thoughts i was having was the flush liqiud. do you have to run the car around with this in before you can flush it out,then put the 4 life in ? thanks

The "flush liquid" is nothing more than water, I did the change myself by disconnecting the hoses under the front of the car and let it drain, refilled with water and ran up to temp so the stay opened, let it cool and emptied out again, I did this about 3 times until the water coming out was clear, then left the pipes off over night to drain completely, then refilled with 4life and bled in the way, I topped up after a run and forgot about it, I still do the Usual checks and have a level alarm as is advisable but apart from annual top up after layup over winter about an egg cup worth, I have no idea why, it has been faultless.

thanks only asked all this as i have had a tripple gasket fitted and am still having nightmares £350 and i dont want to have to go through all that again,thanks for your help. the cost is a cost effective solution for me, have you a link where to buy this?

Got mine from a motor factor on eBay, but the MG Owners club sell it, I'm sure if you Google it there are plenty of outlets.

Mmm waterless coolant apart from the cost what are the pros and cons?....if your car decides to leak and lose some of this expensive liquid..then you can't top up with water...
