Being new to the MG world, can someone tell me what a "180 badge" on the back of a MG TF 1800 signifies?
I assume it is just a reference to the engine size, but I'm not sure.

I've not heard of a 180
A 135 badge indicates 135 hp, 160 = 160 hp
Maybe someone got hold of a 180 badge off a MG ZT and stuck it on because the squeezed some more hp outta it..... squeeze some more out and you can justify a 190 badge, next step is probably too much of a squeeze at 260!

As above, 180 wasn't an official thing.

IIRC the only model that has had numbers on the back was a 160.

Thank you fellas. It will remain a mystery. I was told that the head had been skimmed and ported so maybe the owner at that time added the badge for some reason. Anyway, it looks like it was factory fitted so I will leave it alone.

It definitely wasn't factory fitted.

It is as out of place as a Citroen badge would be
