B & G low coolant kit
Hello all,
I’ll be getting the B & G low coolant alarm kit soon and have read the PDF instructions from their site.
It all seems straightforward but one thing sticks out as possibly a problem; clamp the large bottom hose and remove it trying to keep the coolant in the tank.’
Where does the other end of the large hose connect to? I can see it going to a tee and presumably that where it should be clamped. What did you use as a clamp? I’ve got some locking pliers (mole grips) would they be suitable? Is it advisable to bleed the system after or as the instructions say is it enough to just top up the tank?

I made some slippers out of steel tubing to slip over to jaws of the pointy nosed vice grips (mole grips to you pomgolians ) t
The serrated jaws of the vice grips are too aggressive and are likely to damage the hose.
As to where I clamped the hose off, too bloody long ago to remember.

Thought the jaws might be a bit rough. Gaffa tape to the rescue then. Having had another grub about in there, I suppose I could always disconnect the large hose at the tank and bung my finger over the open end and empty in a jug.
While I was in there I noticed a 2 inch diameter tube Ty-wrapped to the boot bulkheads with an open end that seemed to go to the bottom of the air filter box. Can this be re-routed to vaguely pointing towards the N/S low air vent? Or am I talking cr*p?

When I did it, I pinched my wife's kitchen basting syringe and drained the coolant from the headers tank. I then disconnected everything placed the new header with float alarm and refilled with the coolant I removed. I then spent twenty minutes cleaning it of any evidence and finger prints.

I have a large plastic syringe (ebay) for jobs like this you can use it directly or use it to start a syphon going (sucking on antifreeze is not advisable)
PS I live on my own why would anyone want to baste a country?
