Long story short retimed up no compression on any cylinders. So what are best options remove head approx 56k on engine replace engine. Or remove rear subframe and go from there. Just passed MOT after being off road due to covid. Time could be an issue. Don't want to break or though this could be an option. Really fancy a Nissan 350z. Any thoughts thinking best option is to get a hopefully HFF green rusty/accident damaged and change engine?

Broken cam belt……… most likely your pistons have head butted the valves into next year!

Sorry to hear your bad news. Shortcut options to getting back on the road without too much trouble and expense would appear to be:

Find a completd 2nd hand VVC engine to swap over. Just an engine would be quickest but depending on availabilty buying a complete damaged donor vehicle.

Find a 2nd hand VVC cylinder head and fit with new gasket, belt etc.. Best check state of your pistons for heavy collision damage, likely to be fine but worth checking.

Downgrade to a complete MPI engine. Ive seen Mgfntfbitz have one from an auto for £ 400, has the better 135 cams fitted and being sold with matching ECU.

Etc

Thanks was always happy with the performance of the 160 especially after kmap remap. Never been in a 135 or any other mid engined MG for that matter. What is the story with the better cams in the 135?

just that the example engine i mentioned has the 135 cams rather than the 120 cams that were usually used with the auto transmissions.
