This rear link is secured by a bolt that may or may not pass through a support before locating in a captive nut within the subframe as far as I understand it.
To renew the link or at least the bush within the link it is obviously necessary to deploy a socket on the end of an extension bar etc (as described in one of the "how to" write ups).
What I wish to try and establish before tackling this job is this. How robust is the "nut" that secures the through bolt?
I am expecting to have some difficulty turning the bolt out of the bush and it may need a lot of force to get things to move and the bush may come with the bolt rather than remain in the rear link as it is turned.
So is there a support through which the bolt passes before it goes through the bush, and is the "nut" tack welded to a thin plate or is the construction "bullet proof"?
Can anyone help with that please?

I think that you will be surprised how easily it will undo, I sprayed plusgas on every bolt that I removed on a very rusty TF subframe and never had a problem with any of them except the two engine mount bolts that are threaded into the aluminium casting. Bear in mind that the threads have loctite on them which protects against corrosion.

If you can get some heat into them, that’ll neutralise the grab on the Loctite & it should make the unfastening easier.
Another story, it’s a bit like Airportable Jackanory today. My friend Danny who has the motor engineering business had an apprentice, who was lacking in much intellectual capacity, although very capable when given concise instructions. This was before rattle guns, Danny had started a job & was called away, he had had the breaker bar on tough bolts on a regular job. That was the first thing you did. This lad went under with socket on breaker bar, put his back into it & knocked his front teeth out.
M
Addendum, to clarify. The lad expected the usual resistance, bracing himself to take the strain, which wasn’t there, the breaker bar shot back & simply gobbed him. He couldn’t whistle before, he can now & still works for Danny.

Having looked at your question again I am not sure if you are meaning the short rear lower links that go from the hub to a recess on the side of the subframe or the two long ones that go from the rear of the hub to a centrally mounted bracket at the rear of the subframe. The two rear subframes that I have dismantled had torx bolts to secure the longer arms the exposed threads cleaned easily with a wire brush and the plus gas ensured an easy removal. The bolts that hold the shorter lower links are different in that the protruding threads are encased in the subframe so are not accessible but as I said the loctite protects them.

Yes the short link.
This link has two bushes in it , one at each end..
Now, my next question is as follows.
One of the bushes has an extension on the end. Does this bush fit the sub frame or the hub end. If the hub end is there a part number for a sleeve on the bolt to space it from the fixed nut?

Hi, the part number that you refer to is for the rear short link arm.

It should be a straightforward replacement if you follow cjj's how to on here.

Is this what you want to replace?
