Well, the second expert came and went.
The conclusion I have come to is they simply don't have the necessary software and won't buy it to fix just one TF.
So, I have combined an MG getaway with the Missus and a visit to the MGOC workshop,
They have the gear and it gets us a good run out in an area I have never been to before.
The actual cost inc vat is £40.00 plus the price of a fob which I already have, so I thought pretty good value.
I shall update.
Given then then they come with 2 sets.
It makes me wonder how many people have key fobs around the house that would open what are now other peoples cars.
Not yet, next week apparently.
I remain circumspect regarding most experts these days.
I will post the result though.
I wondered if when sold new the cars came with two fobs of if it was an optional extra at additional cost ?
Well, the man came and went, I think his software aint compatible, but another guy claims to know what hes doing, so hes coming, so we shall see.
Its all fun and games innit?
Just for anyone interested, I was concerned if I lost my fob possessing only one, I would be up the proverbial creek.
I procured a new fob from remotekey.co.uk
and managed to find a programmer to match it to my car without removing the brains here in N.E. England.
Not cheap all in, but better than losing the only fob and being stranded.
Thank you.
That explains why everything is working.
I dont think I will be fitting a glass rear window soon, so I will ignore it.
I noted previously the heated rear window when fitted runs to the 30A fuse that powers the cooling fan, I may be wrong, but I did wonder if that fuse then would be uprated, I lost a cooling fan once with disastrous results on another car, because the manual under rated the fuse when attached also to the full beam.
Happy days.
Much obliged for the reply.
