Larger rear brake kit - any interest?

Larger rear brake kit - any interest? was created by quick_spider

I'm planning on doing a larger rear brake kit for my Tf, but it look like I need to order several brackets to make it worth while. Is there any interest in a kit? It would use the existing caliper and would include brackets, discs and bolts.

Pricing wise it should be around £150, but I'm still waiting on firm prices for discs/machining.

What size are the discs going to be Jon?

I've 10 sets of mine been made right now, I broke one of the brackets from the original set supplied by CJJ and the machine shop did a good price (slightly more than above - that's Surrey for you) but only if I paid for 10 sets.

Got the first one to go on to check it's correct, the rest are ready to go assuming no alterations.

Kit uses Focus ST170 discs and your standard calipers.

Something I did my self a while back was a 280mm disc and brackets and was going to sell them,

just a word of caution, I didn't do in the end because it opens you up to all legal side of what happens if the brakes fail or even if they don't fail, without approval for safety in an accident they could be blamed regardless

We told you that Meccano wouldn't be strong enough.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Sheared a bolt into it and ended up wrecking the bracket with heat trying to get it out.

Finding the correct bolts, particulary the countersunk ones are an absolute nightmare! Finally found a fairly local company that can make them to order though but they're expensive compared to off the shelf bolts!

It uses 405 discs -266mm. Having been in a car with 280s on the rear they felt like overkill.

To satisfy .orgers the kit would be sold as for show use only.

Kameleon, do you have a price & finish date? I don't think there's much point in me doing 10 sets if you've got 10 sets on the go too!

I'm just getting the bolts sorted now, honestly they're a right pain!
I'm fitting the first one next weekend and I'm lead to believe the other 9 will be fabricated within a week of giving the nod. Final price is going to depend on the bolt cost but, ive paid for the brackets and spiggots up front, assuming I can get a few quid off the discs in bulk about £165
