MGF VVC from 1999, 70k miles, HUGE folder of work with thousands spent in restoration and performance. Black leather interior, 5 spoke VVC alloys, AC, rare fog lights. Ultimate head gasket repair/ cure, CD/ MP3, airbag SRS, alarm and central locking with 2 keys and fobs, freshly waxed and valeted, full years MOT freshly serviced.

I have owned this car now for 6 years, but having previously owned older classics I’m wanting another older classic so I am selling for an MGB GT. This car has been mainly a fun weekend car with some patches of daily driving when my daily has let me down. Its been to many car shows and car meets, and is lots of fun to drive. In my ownership I have spent thousands and thousands on restoration and maintenance but also on performance and cosmetic mods/ upgrades.

- Uprated full stainless performance exhaust system including manifold with downpipe, flexi, and back box (still has cat)(a little louder tuned sound than normal but not intrusive or OTT)
- Uprated 52mm throttle body,
- Cold air feed and smooth alloy induction kit with performance filter,
- Uprated drilled and grooved disks with mintex pads
- MG TF Full black leather interior including seats in excellent condition and black leather and alloy door cards, alloy gear knob and new black and blue gators.
- Full pioneer sound system including MP3/ CD/ AUX/ Tuner head unit, door speakers, and rear speakers in a TF sound “T Bar” (audio sound is great but it’s subtle/ factory looking)
- Trophy front splitter
- Trophy front lights (black rather than chrome)
- Alloy mesh grilles
- Heated glass rear window.
- ULTIMATE HEADGASKET CURE! See below…

Some other repairs done (more in folder, too many to list)
- New clutch
- New clutch slave cylinder
- Good used low miles gearbox
- New shock absorbers and other suspension parts
- Head gasket and engine rebuild (again see below, 3k miles ago)
- New cat (500 miles ago)
- New alternator (10k miles ago)
- New coil pack and leads
- 4 new toyo tyres and tracking
- New under body coolant pipes

HEAD GASKET, the downfall of the F, not any more! After the dreaded milk on dipstick 3k miles ago I took the car to a well known specialist, who told me the gasket had failed and head was no good, also the cylinder liners had sunk and pitted. After talking to them and much research I decided to do the “ultimate” head gasket fix, this is to strip the engine, fit new cylinder liners and shim to correct height (new crank shells also fitted), supplied tested and good skimmed used head, with MLS uprated head gasket, measured/ replaced stretch bolts, uprated lower oil rail (this helps give the engine more rigidity and is the final extra step to stopping the issue for good), new water pump (and cam belts and tensioner), new thermostat and cap and thoroughly test the cooling system. This all came to over £1000 and came with a year’s warranty I’ve not had to use. The engine was ran in gently over the next 750 miles and oil changed and is now perfect and in excellent health. No overheating, no mayo, no water loss and should never fail again. Since its been on holiday with me this year where its been in traffic and hot weather its had no issue.

In the interest of honesty, this is an excellent car but as expected at this age it has a few minor downsides, the single speed heater fan does not work, the AC radiator is removed for better air flow to the engine rad, there is some minor scratches on the front bumper from the hedge where it is parked. A few minor age related marks.
These are really minor points in my opinion, especially as the body and underside are rust free and the interior and engine are like new.
Comes with (if you want) additional set of 4 six spoke 1. 8i alloy wheels with legal tyres and a fifth five spoke vvc alloy for a spare.

These cars are appreciating in value, especially the high spec VVC like this one. Faster, less rusty and more practical than an MX5, more economical than a Z3 and not as pricey as a Boxter, what’s not to love. These are characterful little sports cars, that are very usable and enjoyable and don’t have all the draw backs of older classics. (Even get 40+mpg)

£2950, sold as seen. Call me for more details and pictures/ videos, or to arrange viewing and test drive (with proof of insurance). This is not a cheap basket case rot box or overheating mess, it’s a great well sorted loved car and I don’t need immediate sale, I’m not entertaining silly low offers, I’d rather keep it. Thanks, James. Call me on 07762756849.
