OK so we visited the old bird yesterday as a mothers day +1 week lunch... She rather took to Princess and even offered to pay 1500 for her if we'd sell...

Well given my upbringing (note it's the mother-in-law) accepting that just "wouldn't be cricket"... and besides, I am rather attached to her now (princess - not the mother-in-law)....

SO - I've been allocated the task of finding her a fun toy at about the 1k mark - give or take... it doesn't have to be mint, but so long as it drives well, is safe and I can hand it over with a clear conscience that will do... if anyone has or knows someone that'd prefer to pass one on through here rather than the hassle of the dark side, please let me know. I've got the cash and insurance ready. Cheers
Mark.

Not a bad price, and looks in reasonable condition too. Though you never can tell till you go look. What's the plan? Buy it for you self and sell your exiting one to MIL?

That does seem very cheap for a 160Sprint, and below average mileage too.....it makes you wonder if there is something wrong with it, well worth a look to find out !

I think it looks a bit cheap... is suepect, when we get there it'll have badly kerbed wheels, 4 bald tyres, bend subframes, mayo in the water, no history etc etc...

IF by some miracle it's ok, we'll stick with ours - I'd rather have the MIL at risk than my other half if you follow :hgf:

Well I went over to St Helens (needed to work on a computer over there anyway) and agreed to meet the chap at 6.

Perhaps I'm over sensitive, but he was cagey about giving me a postcode... and when i did arrive, he wasn't there - outside the crematorium) but would be along shortly...

The car - whilst not too bad, was a little rough as to be expected in places... seats would need changing... wheels would need a refurb but(from what I could see from holding my phone camera underneath, the subframes looked ok. Stepping back a bit all looked ok down each side and the wheels not obviously out of line.

Engine wise, it sounded nice - the oil was immaculate but he did admit to having to add 1 litre of water before starting it as it'd been stood since last week.... that didn't scare me off as to be frank, it may well have needed it then if follow. Roof was in good (if dirty and covered in bird poo) condition and those roll bars whilst not my taste, were sturdy enough. Usual blower fan and missing wiper linkage....

"something" was bugging me about it though... perhaps it was just the chap being difficult about viewing it or the nature of our clandestine meeting so I walked away - it was probably worth paying him what he asked ... 1200 but as I get older, i follow my instinct even when I can't explain it.

SO - on Friday, I'm heading over to Skipton (I'll go in princess) to meet a chap who is selling his 02 135 in green as his wife has just been diagnosed with epilepsy - now he seems a much more transparent bloke and (subject to viewing) have agreed 1200 for his instead. watch this space.

Probably for the best, if something doesn't feel right, then you're better to walk away.
