Seat Belts - How to replace
The problem?
My drivers side seat belt locked up and refused to pull out, so I needed to replace it.
It could also be that the seat belt has become frayed and hence needs replacing to pass the MOT.
Tools needed:
Size 50T Torx bit/key and cross head screwdriver
The Fix:
Starting from the seat, remove the bolt holding the seat belt anchor to the seat.
Next remove the two screws holding the seat belt escutcheon to the T-Bar. The escutcheon will now pull forward and you can gently twist the lower section and slide the seat belt out.
You now need to get access to the seat belt real, this is located under the rear parcel shelf carpet.
First release the five clips holding the rear of the soft top in place
After lifting the soft top from the rear you can now remove the carpet and gain access to the seat belt real. This is held in place by one 50T Torx bolt.
As you can see the passenger side is exactly the same as the drivers side and hence if you need to buy one they are interchangeable.
Yes even the other end that fits on the seat, I've checked, oh yea of little faith
OK time to remove the old seat belt and real now. Slacken the screw holding the T-Bar down (the one your tonneau cover clips on to). You can now carefully guide the seat belt out through the back of the T-Bar and remove.
Fitting is the good old reversal of the above procedure.
Make sure everything is good and tight and I would check it again in a couple of days. You could use a thread lock on the Torx bolts.
Just need to pack your tools away now and have a brew.
