I’ve long thought that the TF ashtray (even the shiney Ex 1966 Jaguar one ) was literally a waste of space, so decided to replace it with something more useful.

And cut myself a hole using the box as a template, mine was 7cm wide by 13.5cm long, my heater pipes are lagged, without the lagging you could probably go larger, but I wanted to keep the heat out of the box, so I only made it 7cm deep,

Cut the box down , and flocked it using Frost’s flocking kit.

Then there you have it, just big enough for a pair of shades !

Very tidy, and a good how to.

I'd probably keep my fags in there.

Excellent write up. Think I'm going to take a run up to the local breaker & see if I can get hold of a cubby.

And actual lol @ talkingcars :)

Why didnt you keep the small rim and cut the large rim to small? Imo it would give a better finish than the cutted edge you see now.

True. There's usually 'room for improvement' with such mods. :broon:

However the concept gets a 'yes' from me. :yesnod:

Nice job. :)
