Well the title may not be 100% factually correct or true but some days it seems that way. :)

Am I the only one who notices that by putting your roof down you tend to increase the testosterone levels of some other drivers who feel a compulsion to race you? I notice it quite a lot and I'm pretty sure it's not just me.

Usually, I don't rise to the challenge but I'm pleading guilty to an excessive use of the sports drive feature in town recently when two young lads in a Corsa (hole in the exhaust to make it sound faster) were trying to overtake via my boot! It brought out the worst in me.

Now, I've no speed mods fitted, ie; throttle body or air filter upgrades, and the car's only a modest 120bhp. So, flicking to petrol at the lights and taking off in sports mode caused me to have a fair old thrill when it 'Screeched' the tyres and threw me back a bit into the seat! :o

Now, that I've discovered that I can wheelspin I need to be careful that I don't get used to it! There's some addictions that rehab just can't cure and I don't wanna go to rehab. No! No! No!

Bet you all sung it.

I know exactly what you mean, trouble is when I put the roof down it increases my testosterone levels. My daily drive is a fiesta and I drive it like i'm 80, put the roof down in the F and i'm 17 again.

It's amazing how a car can knock 30 years off your age.

If a jobs worth doing, it's worth overdoing

Well, being an all-year-round topless driver I wouldn't know

But in all seriousness, I tend to agree :yesnod: Driving with the hood down increases excitement levels and has a knock-on effect to your right foot! :drive:

Being new to topless driving I have to agree ALTHOUGH it does have the opposite affect at times too...
My daily commute in the Volvo I used to drive between 70-80 constantly and just get to work, door to door, as uneventfully as possible. In Phoenix, I am actually quite happy to pootle at 60 for 90% of the journey and actually take in the world - esp driving along and through the south downs countryside... That petrol I then save by driving slower can be put to use showing MX-5 owners (there were 3 this morning!!) what a car really does when driven properly and I get my rush in bursts of 60-100mph in 8 seconds :p I know its not healthy but the odd drop from 5th to 3rd and hit the revs hard just... oooh lol

A quick test on the autobahn in March proved via sat-nav speed display that my TF is faster with the roof up by 5mph managing an indicated 132mph against 127mph and hence I shall be fitting the hard-top from now on... ;-)

I drive my 25 much harder than the F. I'm usually in a hurry to get somewhere in the 25 whereas the F I bought more for top down leisure motoring so speed is not usually priority when I use it.

We've just driven up to Edinburgh in the TF, and even though we set off 3 hours later than we normally would, we arrived pretty much at the same time we would normally. Admittedly though we didn't stop off in the usual places, but we did stop in jedburgh for lunch and cholesterol in a cup (the delux hot chocolate in Simply Scottish is literally to die for!).

Much as I love driving up in our Citroen C5, the run in the MG was just simply the best fun in ages.

I overtook some rude boys in a 1.1 saxo today who were giving it big even though I had a Argos desk + fold up chair in the passenger seat

It's all about having fun and it's nice to have a little bit more when you need it. ;)
