As a relative newbie myself, I cant see anything wrong with your posts.

Least you do post and give advice.

Pity more people dont take the effort to reply, or post up.

Only thing that keeps the forums going, no good having 50 views, and no posts on any threads.

Everyone is a valued member of this forum, but what we have to remember sometimes is it isn't what we say but how we say it.

This is so much more on forums as you don't get to meet the person and have to judge by what has been written.

I have fallen foul of this in the past and I am sure it will happen in the future too.

You're posts come over as full on and full of confidence in yourself. This isn't a bad thing, but it isn't something you usually see in someone who has just joined a forum. Most people join and build up over a period of time. When someone gives advice and is quite free and open in their advice, it is easier to take and trust someone you know rather than someone who has just appeared.

This isn't a criticism of you, or any other member on here, it is just human nature. From their point of view a stranger is now in their living room telling them what they should do. But surely this is what forums are all about?

It shouldn't be about how long you have been here, but about your willingness to advise and the accuracy and helpfulness of your advice.

To put this in perspective, if you were sitting in a pub with 3 mates and you asked the best way to remove an engine from an MG. You were sitting there discussing it when a complete stranger walks up and says "You want to do this, this and this" quite forcefully and then walks off. What would you think? I know I my first thought wouldn't be "Hmm, that was some good advice....Who was that masked man", It would more likely be "Who the hell was that".

You will soon fit in here (if you don't already) as you seem as mad as the rest of us, but please have patience with us, as we are only human, and take a little getting to know. It works both ways.

If we're discussing what someone said to you in private, then I think they probably meant that intended friendly advice to remain private. But you brought it into the public discussion area. So, you will get others opinions because of that. I'm a moderator and there's no need for me to re-read the posts to look for anything. Nothing bad has happened. It's just that we don't usually discuss every little issue in yet another post for want of something more to say.

I think we all are John. But the majority of us don't have such a complex about guilt. Maybe we're all too thick skinned around here.

Is this still going on? I thought I joined this forum to learn about mgfs and tfs........didn't realise I'd also joined club bongodave! Sorry Dave just messing I'm a new member and everyone one here is friendly and helpfull, some people join just to ask a single question, never to be seen again, and sometimes people sit at there computer waiting to jump in on every topic, that's forums for you, places to have an opinion and places to learn....it's all good fun really
