Any Plumbers?
Hi all,
I did some free work for somebody (water pouring out of ceiling!) early on a Saturday morning in December.
I replaced 2x 15mm service valves (these both leaked very badly when shown a screwdriver) these were needed to isolate a shower where the cartridge had just decided to fall apart whilst somebody was having a shower.
I didn't charge a penny for the work (they're a friend), but they're being funny about something and just for my own interest, how much roughly would a plumber charge for:
Callout at 0830 on a Saturday morning
Replacing 2x 15mm service valves (in airing cupboard, good access).
I am not a plumber (nor do I profess to be) but just in the interests of conflict resolution if anybody has a ballpark figure let me know.
Regards,
Andy

not a pro plumber, but have done plenty of sparky and plumbing work for friends and relatives in my off shifts. i tend to work on what i would get if i went in to work for the same time period. that way, it's generally cheaper than a plumber (unless you're in a rediculously well paid job lol) and you get what you would have done if you'd been at work.
just my take on it :broon:

It depends on a number of things really.
Whether they were compression fittings or push fit, what type of system it's on i.e. combi boiler or not, whether the system had to be drained down etc, etc.
You can bet ya life though at 8.30 on a Saturday morning for an emergency call out they'd be looking at the least £100 before he even knocked on their front door.
I'm not a qualified plumber but I do a fair bit of plumbing as I run my own Property Maintenance business.
