I thought I had a hard drive failure on my HP laptop. :(
But no...
It's the motherboard. :( :( :(

In line with current trends, I blame T Bar and especially that Simon :nose: ... oh wait a minute...
Maybe it just failed...:shrug:

Sometimes you can get a bargain secondhand part on eBay to fix it. Otherwise time for a nice present.

This last one was a refurbished one. Lasted 18 months.
Going for new this time. A Lenovo.

Lenovo = IBM Thinkpad.

Should look pretty basic, but be built like the proverbial tank :)

I've just bout a Lenovo. Got it last Saturday.

i7, 8Gb memory, 1TB HDD and Bluray. £580 from Amazon.

I have a Lenovo from work. Heavy but oh so reliable. Has passed the builders drop test two or three times as well.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

I don't think anything is Rottie proof is it?
The original battery on mine died after a year, as in wouldn't hold a charge. A higher capacity one is available which I got from the Geekery Dept. I get about 6 hours now. I was told it was the 'leaving on float charge all the time' thing, though some IT folk will dispute this. I regularly leave it off charge and asleep now and the battery is still good after 18 months.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

To be fair to the dogs, I'm the destructive power when it comes to electronics.
The worst they've done is spray a bit of slobber on the screen from time to time!
