Bigger than the upgrade of the National grid to 400kV, 13 large power stations, Dinorwic pumped storage, the 2000MW cross channel link and the. AGR nuclear program, etc etc .....all late sixties to early seventies?

Oh, and I work for E.ON: we do make disgusting profits. :yesnod:

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

1. Some of the cast iron gas pipes in the ground are over 100 years old and are in remarkably good conditon.

2. If you live in Didcot or Poundbury, it is likely that your gas came from your sewage. These towns have a biomethane plant attached to the sewage works. It is hoped that around 40% of the gas used in this country can be produced in this way in the future.

EDIT: My wife is SSE (but never did door to door or cold call telesales).

I'm SGN.

Just yanking your chain Adam. ;)

EDF did what the Govt should have done to the CEGB: privatised enough to allow market operation and acquisition while retaining the bulk in public ownership. I do some consulting at EDF Cottam and West Burton now and then.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..
