Took the "F" to the local MG garage for it's MOT today. It passed with no problems :P
Got 1 mile down the road & after a set of lights it baulked when trying to get in 2cd, so I gave it a bit of a yank & ended up with a floppy gear stick :(
Luckily stuck in 2cd so I managed to get back to the garage, awaiting their diagnosis.
Looking at the "How Too" for the problem, it seems I could be in for a substantial bill.

Gear linkage come adrift at the bell housing?

Gear cable snapped?

Most probably either of those, and neither should be a killer cost. ;)

I agree - most likely it's a broken gear change cable - I gather the replacement is somewhat fiddly unless you drop the rear sub-frame.

Good luck!

Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago, I hoped it was a cable popped off somewhere but it turned out it was the cable snapped. I hope you're luckier than me !
