Boulby has been going yonks, and they are now producing poly halite for fertiliser.
Also some science stuff sited there for dark matter research!
Thanks John, might give that a blast this weekend as forecast is looking good, better than weeding the jungle that is posing as a garden at the house I'm renting
lol the dark matter research is quite funny as there are loads of scientists there on big money, looking for something that they don't know exists whoever thought that one up is a genius lol

Had a quiet sunday afternoon so thought I would try out the above route and all I can say is Thankyou very much John it was a very nice run out indeed, I only had 2 problems, when I got to pickering they were having a modified car show which had just finished so all the chavtastic corsa's etc were all wheel spinning everywhere with stereo's on full :nonod: . the other problem was nature, I stepped in a dead pheasant and whilst lying on the ground to get a photo I didn't notice the pile of fresh sheep poo which went all over my T-shirt  lol. other than that it is a great route John

Posted 11 years 5 months ago #120640I may be in the picture for a job in Middlesborough, so we may become near neighbours!
It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Best of luck for the job, I'm guessing you wouldn't be living in Middlesbrough itself? I've seen some pretty different sights there so far
There are some pretty amazing roads and scenery around the moors, thanks again for enlightening me. we'll have to organise a few cars and do a tour

Posted 11 years 5 months ago #120646The run over the moors into Whitby is full of great scenery.
Culture bit: the stone crosses at the roadside are travellers crosses: in days gone by there was always some coinage on the top: if you were down on your luck you could take cash so long as you left some for those even less fortunate than you: take a penny, leave a halfpenny etc. if you check them out the tops are hollowed into a dish shape for the coins.
Can't see it working these days!

this is going to cost me a fortune . it is great though having loads of new roads to explore although I do think I'm going to have to buy a 2nd car for going to work in, every part of the surface of the mine is coated in salt and you get a crust of it on top of your car after a shift and its really starting to damage the matt finish, I did get told when I started if buying a car in the area never buy one from a potash miner :pinch:
