Anyone swapped out their 5th gear?

Im running a C4 with torsion diff...

But as I plan lots of distance driving (Europe) Im thinking about swapping out the current fifth gear for something else to get better MPG

Anyone?

Can't offer a suggestion, but when motorway cruising I keep reaching for another gear that isn't there!

Overdrive would be an ideal option, if moderately impossible on an F/TF.

It will be all right in the end. If it isn't all right yet, then it is not yet the end..

Im after something that drops the gearing 10-15%

Many thanks to a fellow forum 'guru' for sorting me a new fifth gear.,

This will lower my RPM in fifth.. Giving me better MPG on long distance runs etc..

As I plan to do a number of Euro trips in the GT a better ratio fifth makes a lot of sense

Would not 17" wheels do the same, without the need to take the gear box apart?
Just as a fact I have notice I get 43-45 mpg at 60-90 mph so changing the gear ratio would not benefit me but my car is a vvc

I'm running 18" rear wheels.. And a red line of 8,000 rpm..

Thus giving me a new theoretical top speed of 211 Mph

Mine was a VVC.. Now converted.. The Titans won't help fuel economy.. But the wheel size and new gear will

The box is out of the car.. So easier to do it now

Talking to Simon at the Devil's Dyke he was telling me his company car BMW 2.0 Diesel Eco something or other, at 80mph in 6th it's running at just over 900 revs! :omg:

No idea on torque..

I'm sure someone on here could make an educated guess..

It's a 1.9 K series

Cream injectors

Titans

633 cams..

EN24 fly wheel

Torsion Torsen as in torque sensing.Might help spelt the correct way to yield any future search results.
I had a k series casing with diesel gearset final drive 3.9 gave me a long 5th gear.
I am curious what type torsen are you using.
