I recognised some of those items listed in Aldi's UK 'special buys' range as being the same ones available in Aldi's 'special buys' range here in Oz.
So out of curiosity I did a price comparison with currency conversion and it's all quite a bit cheaper here in Oz.
The torque wrench equates to being @ 3 pound cheaper, the jumper leads are @ 2 pound cheaper and the battery charger is 4 pound cheaper here.
I don't know how much different your VAT rate is to our GST (10%) but the variation seems a little inconsistent for a differences in tax rate, (I could probably sit down and figure it all out but I can't be arsed) maybe it's higher freight costs. Which would probably explain it, as it's probably all coming from China and we're closer to China than you lot.

Good to hear that Aldi has gone global. I remember them from my days in Germany when they sold directly from the box and the only price was on the box - no bar coding which meant the staff had to memorise the price of every article on sale. Then again there wasn't a lot of variety then. Have you got Lidl's too? I've been happy enough with mt Aldi & Lidl tools for my DIY usage.
