Stick a KV6 in instead of the 1.8 and it'll have @ the same power as to original though even though the original and the KV6 are both V6's it probably still won't sound the same.
Dad had a Dino 246GT when I was a kid, I still remember the wonderful sound!

I'm pleasantly supprised by this kit.

I was expecting an MR2 style modern hash up with ill-judged proportions but this just looks right.

Price is a bit eye-watering though...

I've always thought that the Dino was one of the best looking cars of its day and this kit looks very comprehensive if you've got £20K to spend. I'd have thought the KV6 190 would be a great match and reduce the HGF risk as well. On the otherhand I was looking at a genuine Jensen Interceptor Mk3 for under £15K...OK a very different sort of car but would you rather have a replica or the genuine article? Oh well, dream on.

It's featured in this months MG enthusiast, and was a good read. According to the article it has the same power to weight as the original with just the 1.8k, and the all up weight is less than a TF. But it would certainly sound better with a KV6.

I agree the price is a bit steep. If I had £15k lying around I'd be looking for a good used z4 3.0 or an XK

I know its based on a mk1 or 2 MX5 but you could have one of these on the road for £8k, was talking to them at the NEC last weekend, im sorely tempted to do one, turn it over then do one for myself, they reckon they can sell complete cars for £20 to £25k

No matter how good a kit it is you would have to be a sorry excuse for a car enthusiast to build/buy one of the Dino kits and put Ferrari badges on it.
A guy showed up at a local car show with a Ferrari GTO kitcar based on a 240Z. It was very well done and must have cost him a fortune, but everyone knew it wasn't a GTO. He was strutting around in a red satin Ferrari jacket with shades and Italian loafers (probably Chinese replicas!) and everyone was having a good laugh behind his back. Pathetic!

Dino 246s didn't wear Ferrari badges anyway, as Dino was intended to be a marque in it's own right.
So anyone with a genuine Dino 246 wearing Ferrari badges is a poser let alone those with the kit car!

Probably 90% of the Dinos I have seen have had Ferrari badges retrofitted, but they are not
replicas or kit cars and are in the Ferrari "family" even if the old man insisted they didn't wear Ferrari badges.
Not correct but at least the badges do away with a lot of questions from the unknowing. (Same reason I put an "MGF" badge of the back of my MGF!)
