I went into the chemist shop today and the young Indian bloke behind the counter said with much enthusiasm:
"Your that bloke that drives the cool car!"
I get quite a lot of unsolicited favourable comments on my car, strangely enough most of them come from people with the ethnic background of India, Sri Lanka etc.
I wonder if perhaps MG Rover should have sold into those markets, although the cars would have been expensive in those markets they would've probably appealed to those with the money.
I wonder if what might have happened if Tata (the Indian owners of Jaguar and Land Rover) had bought the wreckage of MG Rover instead of the Chinese?

Well if they'd done half as good a job as they've done with Jaguar LandRover then we'd see a new sports model, probably a TF replacement and some fabulous saloons!

It amazes me why SAIC have been so lax with the brand when you consider its heritage... sad really.

I'm not sure that the brands current owners fully understand the heritage value of the MG brand.
I s'pose Indians better understand the finer points of western culture having had more exposure over the years with the institutions and the English language that their colonial past has bequeathed them.
Whereas the mainland Chinese were largely isolated from western culture for many years, mind you they're doing a damned fine job of catching up!
