This graph shows the trend of my fuel consumption in l/100km over the last eight months. OK, not mine but the TF's.
I'm wondering what happened at the marked point in time to cause the increase??
What would you recommend to check??

No change in my daily route of course.

Checked your tyre pressures lately?

Did you change fuel grades? ie; high octane to supermarket brands.

Brakes binding? Winter driving with the lights on more? Temperature related?

Hi. A really cheap but very effective thing you can try is Redex. You can buy a bottle for about £5 and mix it when you fill the tank. It very effectively cleans the fuel system without harm. You should notice a change after about a week of driving on a full tank of fuel with the additive. Unlike the expensive "add-on" gismo's it does what it says on the bottle. I know it's been around for years and doesn't come in a fancy box at an inflated price but, it does the job. Fifth Gear recently tested additives etc and measured the fuel efficiency/BHP results. The only thing that worked cost effectively was......Redex!

I used to monitor my fuel like you when I was doing 600-700 miles a week with a VW Golf Mk1. As soon as the consumption started to rise - after about 4500 miles - oil and filter change, service or replace the plugs and a squirt of Redex and all was back to normal. That old VW did 250,000 before I sold it and the lad who bought it from me still had it six years later.
