Hello all not been round for a bit. after we had our first daughter I decided to bite the bullet and look for another car with a back seat for the little one after looking round I found a Mercedes CLK all was bliss for a bit but had nothing but trouble this last month and the bills are stupidly high to fix if you can find some one who can fix them at all, good job I didn't sell my beloved MGF at 17 years old she is in much better shape than the CLK and no matter what people say about K SERIES ENGINES I think they are great as long as you look after them so Boooo other car marks I am selling up my CLK and getting another MG with a back seat APOLOGIES FOR THE RANT I AM FED UP WITH THE WHOLE THING

I am new to the MG also, but i have to say my BMW e36 coupe is 100% reliable and has been an excellent car. after a few years of owning the coupe i fancied a change, so searching around for a soft top BMW, i found a few but the sellers were asking far too much for some that could only be described as projects, i came across MG's in my search and did a bit of research, and here i am, week 4 of MG ownership and chuffed to bits, and i just keep thinking what a bargain and a smile per mile car.

Well said jonniey...I bought my '05 135 in December, she's been washed and polished to within an inch of her life, new plugs, pipercross filter, the best Mobil oil money can buy, and a fabulous Daytona exhaust....she lives in her own garage, I bought her as a second car for the fair weather months but I've already done 3 thousand miles in her.!..I can't leave her alone, she makes me smile and I cannot for the life of me understand why they are so ridiculously cheap, a very mis understood, underrated and wrongly maligned little roadster, at least WE as owners of this marque "get it".

I would get a ZT turbo I love mine. It's a smashing car, great for the family and on the whole quite cheap to maintain.Almost as good to drive as the F.

I must admit I'm missing my F,I may have to get another one.

Ahhh actually the 75/ZT's have their issues mainly thanks to BMW and yes I have a 75 Connoisseur Auto with the 2.5L KV6 engine.

ABS can give troubles as I well know. I still have an ABS problem but now it's in a box in the shelf in the garage and we still don't know what the problem was but changing this sorted it:-

ABS Module (Pump)
New sensor N/S/F
Good used N/S/F hub
Pair of calipers off a 40K total loss
New drop links
new flexi hoses to front caliper.

Result no more ABS fault and cruise control now works as it should.

Keep the plenum clear or you get a flooded interior floor and keep an eye on the rear light seals as they can leak as well.

The alarms can also play up again thanks tot eh BMW system used and on the diesels if one does not keep the plenum clear then you can say good bye to the engines ECU which can drown. Funny thing is that th pertols ones don't seem to drown if they get flooded. Oh and yes the VIS motors again German and they pack in. In fact i have not driven mine with workign VIS motors as ye ............................... must get them sorted one day. And of course the V6 upper manifold woes...................................... German again :bang:

Rear wheel tracking .................................. the bolts seized and can shear off when trying to undo and no longer available unless one does soem home work and goes to BMW.................................. same as on the E46 BTW as I had to find out.

IT's as if they did everything to sabotage the range.

Despite this they are excellent cars :woohoo: just got mine back in use after a month of not being used new rear silencer fitted and we are back on the road.

I have given up expecting any car to be without wallet-ache.
Oddly enough My 2004 1.4 diesel Yaris has been my most reliable car ever. Bullet proof
My wife's 2008 1.3 Yaris SR always seems to be brok. ATM it needs a new OS UJ gator. What ever did toyota do to their cars after 2005?

Toyota have been going down hill for sometime, they've had to pay a huge 1.2 Billion fine in the US recently over misleading consumers over safety issues and recalls. , they've had quite a lot of massive recalls over the last few years.
And they've been busted for all sorts of other shenanigans too, like passing off fake leather interiors for the real deal
They are starting to pay the price for rampant bean counting, you would've thought that they would've learned by the examples set by other once great manufacturers.
:nonod:
I hope they get their just deserts, I've had professional dealings with them and they're not nice!
