Hi
I am looking for an exhaust gasket for my 2004 vvc but there are 2 types one is oblong the other is wave like both say ok for cars 2002-to date any ideas
20 mins later
I have looked around and I think the oblong gasket is an inlet and the company have misnamed it

Looking at Rimmers catalogue there only appears to be one exhaust manifold gasket for all f and TF variants both 1600 and 1800cc engines. Their part number is LKG100300

It's the wavy one you describe.

Yes, I also looked on Rimmers and at there Rover site as well but the only gasket is the wavey one so as I said it most be the inlet gasket as that is oblong

Had Alan Crossley replace mine last week. Already had a 'aftermarket' gasket; bought a 'genuine Landrover LKG100300' off eBay, thought it looked a bit pathetic...bought a LKG100300 from Guy Salmon Land Rover for under £7 - it looked worse...

Given the choice of 3 Alan fitted the one in the Land Rover packet - it wasn't blowing anyway!

Why do you want to replace yours?

Thought MINE was blowing...lol

My alternator is playing up [ its 3 months old ] and to change the alternator I have to take the exhaust manifold off as its a 4-2-1 [ not std ] I know I should not need to take it off but one bolt will not come out without it off perhaps a badly designed one but now stuck with it unless i buy another one but £350 is not on the cards right now

Wow is that £350 for the upgraded exhaust manifold? If the new manifold is closer to the alternator than the original the extra latent heat will be a big issue, the regulator is what fails due to heat in the alternator. Also will the original heat deflector shield still fit between the alternator and manifold? if not you can always wrap the exterior of the manifold with heat resistant tape material.
